Kylee Kyte (she/they) is an interdisciplinary professional with experience and training in both social work and the theatre arts who believes that creative expression is instrumental to mental health and social justice.
Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, I moved to San Diego to pursue a B.A. in Social Work from San Diego State University. There, I served as the director, producer, and writer, respectively, for activist theatre group V-Day SDSU. I also co-directed a production of Exit, Pursued by a Bear with SDSU's Skull & Dagger Dramatic Society. Currently, I intern at The Consensus Organizing Center, where I serve as a mentor for underserved high school students in City Heights and work in fundraising and program development.
My short play, The Ex-Lover's Convention received the Outstanding Creative and Performing Arts Award from San Diego State University and was selected for publication by The Coachella Review.
Additionally, I'm a co-founder of Frontlines of Pride, a playwriting program serving LGBTQIA+ veterans and military-connected artists in partnership with Diversionary Theatre and Armed Services Arts Partnership.
I will graduate with my B.S. in Social Work this May. This August, I begin San Diego State University's three-year MSW program with the intention of intertwining the theatre arts and clinical mental health practice.
